Entertainment: Carmen Electra switches Beaches
Electra jumps from one show to another
CARMEN Electra is jumping from one Bay to
another.

The busty ex-Baywatch babe is joining the cast of
Hyperion Bay, the anemic WB series that has
struggled in its freshman season (Mondays at 9 p.m.
on WPIX/Ch.11) but was given a full-season order
nonetheless.

According to trade paper Variety, Electra will play
Sarah Hicks, the daughter of a computer mogul who
arrives in Hyperion Bay and immediately sparks
romance and bad-girl intrigue.

So far this season, Hyperion Bay - starring Sydney
Penny, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Dylan Neal - is
averaging about 2.3 million households each week as
one of TV's lowest rated shows.

Insiders are likening Sarah to Heather Locklear's role
as scheming sexpot Amanda Woodward on Fox's
Melrose Place.

Melrose Place was struggling in its second season
when Locklear was brought aboard, ostensibly for
only a few episodes. But Lockler proved to be so
popular - and ratings shot up with her arrival - that
Fox decided to make her a permanent Melrose Place
cast member.

Electra got her first big break hosting Singled Out on
MTV, and later had a stint on Baywatch as a
bikini-clad beauty opposite star David Hasselhoff.

An earlier development deal Electra signed with WB -
in which she would have developed her own series -
never came to fruition, but she's filmed a role in the
movie, Mating Habits of the Earthbound Human -
starring Frasier sidekick David Hyde Pierce - and has
had small roles in NBC's Just Shoot Me and ABC's
Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.
